How 3D Can Clothes Be?

A London designer has created a line of clothes that appear 3D. The focus on his clothes are the fabrics and textures, they have to stand out. I think that people are taking the whole 3D thing way too far. There is now 3D on already 3 dimensional objects? I understand the need for depth in an article of clothing but sometimes it is better to let the pattern speak for itself. If we don't watch what we as the consumers make popular, soon enough we will be wearing trash as clothes.
